In June 2016, AML Solutions International assisted The Global Centre on Cooperative Security in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania where we conducted an Asset Freezing workshop over four days. The workshop comprised attendees from the Asset Forfeiture Recovery Section (AFRS), a specialized unit within the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) a specialized unit within the Tanzanian Police Force (TPF), the DPP, and the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB).
One of the primary / workshop objectives was to work with the FIU in the development of their ‘Procedural Guide’ for asset freezing and confiscation. The environment of open discussions proved to be very helpful for the various agencies in regards to delineating their various roles and functions whilst highlighting current gaps which is an important step in continuous improvement efforts.
