In October 2016, AML Solutions International were engaged to facilitate and present a four day Tactical and Strategic Analysis workshop to the Qatar Financial Information Unit (QFIU) at their offices in Doha, Qatar. The aim of the workshop was to introduce the concepts of both tactical and strategic analysis while taking into consideration the differing levels of existing knowledge. The workshop was attended by 22 staff from the various internal and external business units, including members of the QFIU, the police force of the state of Qatar, and the Ministry of the Interior.
The removal of Qatar from the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF), International Co-operation Review Group (ICRG) in 2010 has gone a long way to assist the regional positioning of Qatar in the MENAFATF. Further, the QFIU wishes to take a key role in the MENAFATF region and has clearly started on this endeavor with their new offices that will house all the necessary inter-related AML/CTF Government agencies, including a dedicated training center.
The high level of participant dedication, commitment, and engagement was notable and consequently the questions and comments from the participants were both insightful and intelligent. It was obvious that the Qatar participants were knowledgeable and skilled. The workshop was well attended, and feedback from both the organisers, and the participants was very positive.
